Katie Rha and Michael Gu first met as freshmen at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during an entrepreneurship seminar. However, it wasn’t until they were both studying abroad (she was in London, and he was in Cape Town) during their junior year, when romance entered the chat.

The pair decided to meet in Madeira. They spent an amazing week sightseeing, hiking, and riding Vespas through the town. 

It was only fitting that Katie and Michael returned to Madeira for their autumn wedding. Once the location was set, choosing Reid’s Palace came easily.
